Golf along the lower St. Lawrence and Gaspé Peninsula typically opens in mid-to-late May, though some years the Rimouski-area courses manage limited play by early May. Snow lingers longer here than in the Montreal corridor, and the maritime influence of the St. Lawrence keeps temperatures cool well into June. Fairways tend to be soft and lush in the early weeks, which rewards accurate ball-strikers but can slow pace of play on wetter layouts. The parkland courses around Rimouski — Des Saules, Val-Neigette, and Bic sur Mer — are generally the first to become playable given their lower elevations, while the Matapédia Valley inland at Revermont in Amqui may hold frost a few days longer. Spring greens fees across the region tend to be among the best value of the season. Off the course, the lower St. Lawrence is prime beluga whale and seabird territory in May and June, and the region's rivers open for salmon fishing around the same time, giving non-golfers ample reasons to join the trip.

Summer

July and August represent the most reliable stretch of the golfing calendar on this trail. Daytime temperatures along the St. Lawrence typically sit in the low-to-mid 20s Celsius, and the coastal breeze at seaside layouts like Bic sur Mer, Boule Rock, and Carleton-sur-Mer keeps conditions comfortable even during warm spells. Evening light lasts well past 8 p.m. in July, making late tee times genuinely practical. Afternoon sea fog can roll in quickly on the coastal holes, and rain is distributed fairly evenly through the summer months, so a waterproof layer is always worth packing. Carleton-sur-Mer sits at the eastern end of the trail near the Baie des Chaleurs, where summer temperatures are noticeably warmer than around Rimouski, rewarding golfers who build the full drive into their itinerary. The region's festival season peaks in summer, with local music events, seafood markets, and kayaking outfitters all operating at full capacity.

Fall

September is widely considered the most scenic month to play this trail. Foliage in the Matapédia Valley around Revermont typically peaks in late September, and the parkland courses near Rimouski and Matane pick up warm amber and red tones that frame the St. Lawrence views. Temperatures cool noticeably by mid-September — morning rounds can start in single digits Celsius — but afternoons often settle into comfortable playing conditions. Courses tend to be less busy than in midsummer, and the firmer, faster conditions that follow drier late-summer weather suit low-handicap golfers. Most courses on this trail aim to stay open through mid-October, though that varies by year and snowfall. Visitors planning an October trip should confirm current conditions directly with each club. Whale-watching season extends into early fall on the St. Lawrence, and the region's smoked fish shops and cider producers are worth building into a round-trip route along Highway 132.
