3-Day Golf Road Trip: Central Nova Scotia

This three-day loop through central Nova Scotia suits mid-handicappers who want a mix of classic parkland design and historical pedigree without long highway stretches. Truro anchors the trip as the overnight hub for the first two nights, with a straightforward drive connecting the inland courses. The routing works equally well arriving from Halifax or from the Trans-Canada corridor.

Day 1

Arrive in Truro with enough daylight for a late-morning or early-afternoon round at Truro Golf Club, the trip's centrepiece. Designed by Stanley Thompson and later refined by C.E. Robbie Robinson, this 18-hole, par-71 layout carries the weight of Canadian golf history and deserves an unhurried pace — booking an early-afternoon tee time leaves room for a proper look at each hole. After the round, check in at either the Best Western Truro – Glengarry or the Inn on Prince Hotel & Conference Centre, both located in Truro and convenient to the course. For dinner, Murphy's Fish & Chips is a reliable Truro staple, or Frank & Gino's Grill & Pasta House works for those wanting something heartier after a full day of travel and golf.

Day 2

Day two keeps things close to home. Start the morning at Brookfield Golf & Country Club in Brookfield, a Geoffrey Cornish-designed 18-hole, par-70 parkland track that plays differently enough from the Thompson layout to make the back-to-back worthwhile. A mid-morning tee time is sensible — Brookfield is a shorter drive from Truro, leaving the afternoon open. After the round, those with energy and a preference for a shorter outing can tack on a loop at Eagles Crossing Golf Club in Carlisle, a 9-hole, par-72 parkland course that rounds out the day without the commitment of another full 18. Return to Truro for a second night — the Inn on Prince Hotel & Conference Centre or Best Western Truro – Glengarry again, depending on preference. The Nook and Cranny in Truro is a solid dinner option for a relaxed evening close to the hotel.

Day 3

On the final morning, break from the Truro base and head toward Aspotogan Ridge Golf Club in Hubbards for a change of scenery before the drive home. A morning tee time allows golfers to finish the round, pack up, and be on the road by early afternoon. The route back — depending on the departure direction — passes through New Glasgow, where Little Gull Bistro or The Thistle Gastropub make reasonable lunch stops before getting on the highway. Golfers extending the trip or ending near the eastern end of the province can overnight at the Comfort Inn New Glasgow or the Holiday Inn Express Stellarton – New Glasgow in Stellarton before departing the following day.
