Lingan Golf Club

Lingan Golf Club in Sydney, Nova Scotia, stands among Canada's oldest golf clubs, with roots stretching back to 1895. The club relocated to its current MacLean's Crossing site in 1913, when Malcolm Martin laid out the original nine holes. That layout was subsequently redesigned in 1922 by Stanley Thompson, one of the most influential course architects in Canadian golf history. A second nine, developed by C.E. "Robbie" Robinson, followed in 1964, completing the 18-hole configuration that exists today.

The finished course plays to a par of 72 across 6,620 yards in a tree-lined parkland setting — a character shaped over more than a century by three distinct design hands. The layered history of its construction gives the layout an organic quality, with the Thompson-influenced front nine and Robinson's back nine each reflecting the sensibilities of their respective eras. Dense tree corridors define the boundaries throughout, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee.

At over 6,600 yards from the tips, Lingan presents a genuine championship test for low-handicap players while remaining accessible enough for mid-range golfers who can navigate a parkland layout.
