The Old Bauernhaus Restaurant

Authentic Bavarian dining in a 350-year-old farmhouse transported from Germany — a Kimberley icon.

The Old Bauernhaus Restaurant occupies a genuine 350-year-old Bavarian farmhouse that was dismantled in Germany and rebuilt on Norton Avenue in Kimberley in 1989 — a setting unlike anything else on a BC golf road trip. The structure alone makes it worth a detour from the nearby fairways.

The kitchen leans firmly into its Bavarian roots, producing everything in-house: sourdough rye bread, sausages, schnitzel, Maultaschen, and strudel, with local ingredients woven throughout. The multi-course Bavarian Feast is the signature draw for those with time to settle in, while the classic schnitzel remains a reliable standalone order. The vibe is warm and old-world rather than casual or contemporary — low timber beams, an authentic farmhouse interior, and a menu built around Central European comfort food.

Reservations are essential, particularly during Kimberley's golf season when the town draws visitors to courses in the Rockies valley. Arriving without a booking risks missing out entirely.
