Fort-Prével

Fort-Prével Golf Club sits on the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec, built directly on the site of Second World War fortifications between the towns of Gaspé and Percé. The course opened in 1958 and has operated as a resort property since, with accommodations and dining available on site. Its seaside setting gives the layout a character that is difficult to replicate inland.

The 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches 6,354 yards, placing it in a range that rewards accurate play without demanding elite length. The most distinctive moment on the course comes at the 11th hole, named Le coup de canon, which is played from atop the original fortifications. The elevated tee position and the military history embedded in the landscape make it a genuine point of difference from a typical resort round. Sea views accompany much of the routing, and the coastal exposure means wind is a factor that can shift the effective difficulty of any given hole.

The course suits a wide range of players. The yardage is approachable for high-handicappers and recreational golfers, while the terrain and coastal conditions give more experienced players something to think about. Because Fort-Prével also offers lodging and a restaurant on site, it functions as a self-contained destination — practical for golfers making the longer drive out to the Gaspésie region and looking to base themselves somewhere with a sense of place.

The surrounding Gaspé Peninsula is a well-established road-trip corridor for travellers from Quebec and beyond, with Forillon National Park and the famous Percé Rock among the nearby landmarks.
