3-Day Golf Road Trip: Montréal & Montérégie

This Montérégie loop suits golfers who want varied parkland layouts within a compact driving radius south and east of Montréal, with no single leg exceeding about 90 minutes. The three days move from the orchard country around Rougemont through Mont-Saint-Hilaire and into the Granby corridor, ending with a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design near the Quebec–New York border. A car is essential; most courses sit 30–60 minutes apart on routes 20 and 10.

Day 1

Arrive the night before or drive in from Montréal early. The first round goes to Golf Rougemont in Rougemont, a compact par-60 parkland layout that works well as a warm-up round — a shorter format that rewards precision over length. A morning tee time, say 9 a.m., gets the round done before noon and leaves the afternoon free for the drive east toward Mont-Saint-Hilaire.

After settling in, head to Manoir Rouville-Campbell in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, a historic property that puts golfers within easy reach of the next morning's course. For dinner, Paris-Ci, Bistro Français is a short drive away in Mont-Saint-Hilaire and offers a straightforward French bistro menu, or Restaurant L'Étoile St-Hilaire provides another local option on the same stretch. Either works for an early dinner before a full day tomorrow.

Day 2

The morning belongs to Club de Golf La Seigneurie, the local 18-hole par-70 parkland course right in Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Tee off by 8 a.m. to beat the heat and finish by early afternoon. The par-70 layout is tighter than a full par-72, so accuracy off the tee matters.

After the round, load up and head southwest to Club de Golf Verchères in Verchères, a par-71 parkland course redesigned by Graham Cooke and Darrell Huxham. This second 18 works as a late-afternoon twilight round if the legs are willing, or golfers can save it for the start of Day 3. Verchères is close enough to the Granby accommodation corridor that either plan is workable.

The overnight base for Day 2 is Granby, which has three solid options at different price points: Hôtel St-Christophe Boutique & Spa, Hôtel Castel, or Hôtel Motel Granby. Granby's dining scene is the best-stocked on this itinerary. Micro Brasserie Le Grimoire is the pick for local craft beer after a long day in the saddle. Bistro Kapzak, Maison Boire, and La Shed BBQ & Pub are all viable alternatives depending on how hungry and how tired the group is.

Day 3

If Club de Golf Verchères was skipped on Day 2, play it first thing in the morning before continuing west. Otherwise, the day opens with Granby St-Paul right in Granby — an 18-hole parkland layout that's easy to reach from any of the three Granby hotels. A 7:30 or 8 a.m. tee time finishes the round by midday.

The final destination is Malone Golf Club in Elgin, a Robert Trent Jones Sr. parkland design that is the most architecturally distinguished course on the trail. The drive from Granby to Elgin cuts south through Montérégie farming country. A late-morning or early-afternoon tee time — depending on how quickly the morning round finished — rounds out the trip. Golfers departing Montréal-bound can make the drive from Elgin back to the city in under two hours. Those extending south can also consider Golf International 2000 in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, a par-72 parkland layout near the US border, as an optional fourth-course add-on if the schedule allows.
