Golf Lac Carling

Golf Lac Carling sits on the southern shores of Lac Carling in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, Quebec, roughly an hour from Ottawa and west of Montreal. The course carries a distinguished design lineage: the original nine holes were laid out by Stanley Thompson in 1945 for the Ayers family, and the full 18-hole layout was redesigned by Howard Watson and opened in 1961. At par 72 and 6,593 yards, it operates as a resort course.

The routing makes deliberate use of the lake. On the par-four 2nd and 7th holes, the greens sit close to the encroaching shoreline, introducing a lateral hazard that demands precise approach play rather than aggressive target hunting. The par-five 15th presents a different kind of pressure — the fairway narrows considerably as it approaches the green, rewarding accuracy on the third shot over sheer length. The overall layout includes three par threes and three par fives, offering a varied rhythm across the round.
