Golf Carling Lake

Golf Carling Lake sits in the Laurentian region of Quebec, near the village of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge. The original nine holes opened in 1945, designed by Stanley Thompson — one of Canada's most celebrated golden-age architects. Howard Watson later expanded and redesigned the layout to 18 holes, with that version opening in 1963. The course is part of a resort complex and welcomes public play.

The layout stretches 6,720 yards to a par of 72, threading through the forested Laurentian terrain that Thompson favoured for its natural contour and drama. The course's most talked-about moments come at the 2nd and 7th holes — both par fours whose greens sit adjacent to one another beside an encroaching lake. The water introduces genuine strategic pressure on approach shots at each hole, and the shared shoreline setting makes this corner of the course a natural focal point of the round.

At just over 6,700 yards, the course presents a genuine test without being prohibitive, making it a reasonable choice for a wide range of handicaps.
