Golf Carling Lake

Golf Carling Lake sits in the Laurentian region of Quebec, near Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, where the rolling hills and lakes of the Canadian Shield shape both the scenery and the golf. The original nine holes opened in 1945, designed by Stanley Thompson — one of Canada's most celebrated course architects. Howard Watson later expanded and redesigned the layout into a full 18-hole course, which opened in its current form in 1963. The course is part of a resort complex and welcomes public play.

At par 72 and stretching to 6,720 yards, the layout offers a genuine test without tipping into excess. The Laurentian terrain gives the course a natural rhythm of elevation changes, mature trees, and water, with Carling Lake itself appearing as a strategic hazard at more than one key moment. The most memorable stretch centres on the 2nd and 7th holes — a pair of par fours whose greens sit adjacent to each other with the lake pressing in from the side.
