White Point

White Point Golf Club sits on a low, wind-exposed headland at Hunts Point, Nova Scotia, connected to the historic White Point Beach Resort on the province's South Shore. Designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1932, it is one of the few surviving Ross designs in Atlantic Canada — a compact nine-hole layout that plays to par 33 over approximately 2,400 yards. Greens fees run CAD $35–$50, making it an accessible stop for travelling golfers.

The routing follows the natural contours of the headland and repeatedly brushes the Atlantic shoreline. Ross's hallmarks are present throughout: small, elevated greens with subtle breaks, strategic bunkering, and a layout that rewards placement over power. The nine holes can be played twice from alternate tees for a full 18-hole round. The third hole is the course's standout, a par 3 built around a bowl-shaped green that gathers and rejects approach shots depending on how precisely they are struck.

At 2,400 yards, White Point is not a long test, but the coastal wind off the Atlantic changes the equation considerably. Players who underestimate the conditions tend to discover it quickly.
