About this course

Amherst Golf Club sits on the edge of the Tantramar marsh in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, just minutes from the New Brunswick border. Established in 1909, it ranks among the older clubs in the Maritimes, and a redesign by prolific Canadian architect Robbie Robinson — completed between 1967 and 1970 — brought the layout to its current 18-hole, par-71 form stretching 6,415 yards.

Robinson's design is a parkland track built on relatively open ground, which means the Tantramar marsh landscape is never far from view and wind regularly factors into club selection. The course is noted for its fast greens and lush fairways, rewarding accurate approaches over brute length. The finishing hole, a 515-yard par-5 double dog-leg named "Home-Coming," summarizes the course's character well: a pond and fountain guard the green complex, and navigating two turns across that distance demands patience and course management rather than power alone.

At 6,415 yards and par 71, the layout is accessible enough for recreational golfers to score reasonably, while the green speed and open terrain give low-handicap players something to work with. Its position in Amherst — practically on the Trans-Canada corridor connecting Nova Scotia to New Brunswick — makes it a natural stop for golfers road-tripping through the Maritimes.
