River's Edge Golf Club

River's Edge Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course set in the Sheep River valley just outside Okotoks, Alberta. Stretching 6,967 yards, the parkland layout occupies a dramatic stretch of terrain shaped by three distinct elevations — a feature that gives the course its character and separates it from the flat prairie layouts common in southern Alberta.

The original South Nine was designed by Ed Englehardt and opened in 1994; the North Nine followed a decade later in 2004, completing the full 18-hole layout. Holes are carved through and around the Sheep River valley, with the changes in elevation creating varied lies and demanding shot-making throughout the round. The ninth hole, known as 'Waterworld,' is the course's most talked-about test: an island green surrounded by water that requires a precise carry regardless of the club in hand.

River's Edge has hosted competitive golf at a high level, having been selected as the venue for the 2010 Alberta Ladies Amateur Championship — a mark of the caliber of the layout. The course suits golfers who appreciate parkland conditions with genuine strategic variety, and the elevation changes mean that reading yardages accurately is part of the challenge. Players who prefer flat, straightforward tracks may find the terrain more demanding than expected.
